Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE NYS Peacefully on December 7, 2006, at the age of 80 years, George Nys, beloved husband of Evelyn, passed away at the Bethania Personal Care Home, surrounded by his family. Besides his wife Evelyn, George will also be sadly missed by daughters, Dorothy Nys and Marlene Walichnowski (Andy); grandchildren, Alycia, James and Michael; sister, Harriet Grenier and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Helene and Albert; by his brothers, Fred, Lawrence, Albert and Sandy and by his sisters, Margaret, Mary-Louise and Jean. George was born in Winnipeg on July 7, 1926. He worked at Standard Broom, Schumacker MacKenzie and then spent 35 years with the C.N.R. in Transcona. As a longtime resident of Transcona, he was actively involved with the Transcona National Football Club and the Credit Union. He also served on the Stadium Committee and Parks Board. He enjoyed travelling and summers at Gull Lake with family and friends. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Bethania Personal Care Home for their dedicated and compassionate care. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 12 at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. 1 E. at Navin Road. The service will be followed by cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory may be made to the Parkinson Society of Manitoba or the Autism Society Manitoba, both at 825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R2C 0A3.
