ARNOLD EDWARD JOHNSON After a long and very brave battle with C.O.P.D., heart disease and cancer, our forever loved husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, relative and friend finally got his eternal rest. With his loving family surrounding him he passed away December 8, 2006, at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, MB. Dad was born May 13, 1927 and raised in Sanford, MB. He came to live in Lundar in his late teens. He worked in the bush logging for one year in Ontario. He then started his career in the grain elevator business. He worked in many of the Province's small towns and made many friends along the way. He loved a good joke. He was known to have some young guys look for a round square. He even sent one guy uptown to buy muffler bearings. Dad is survived by his loving wife Dorothy of 52 years. They met 60 years ago and were each other's best friend ever since. They married on July 31, 1954, and had four children; Heather (Art), Gifford (Marilyn), twins Virgil (Cathy) and Wyatt who is predeceased; grandchildren Lynne (Mike), Vennessa (Randy), Tommy (Terri), Kelsey-Jean and friend Eric, and Keifer; great-grandchildren, Tamara, Tristan, twins Miranda and Mishayla, Kira, Alyssa and Damon and one more to arrive in June. He is also survived by his sister Kay Johnson; sisters-in-law Elivia and family, Verginia Bergthorson along with nieces, nephews and numerous friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Edward and Victoria; brothers, Gifford in the Second World War and Eric, along with in-laws, Steini and Svava Thorsteinson; brothers-in-law, Tom Thorsteinson, Albert Bergthorson and Dori Hallson; sister-in-law Ethel Hallson. Dad was a very hard working man and an excellent provider for his family. He hunted with his whole family, went partridge hunting and enjoyed deer hunting with his sons, brothers-in-law, cousins and friends. He and his cousin-in-law Dennis inlayed the medallions in the stocks of the Goose Shoot Shotguns for approximately 15 years. Dad was a member of the B.P.O. Elks in Lundar for over 30 years. In his retirement, he could always be found working on some type of project in his garage. After retiring he became a fan of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Time stopped for everything at 5:00 p.m. Paul Harvey was also a fave. Dad would even go for a drive in his Toy if the grand kids were around so he could hear his broadcast in peace and quiet. Dad and his little red Toyota had become a frequent occurrence around town making their many trips checking this and that, seeing that his friends were okay, and that everything around town looked in place. When Dad's great-grandchildren came around he used to say PLEASE move the jigaboo up so the little jiggers don't touch it. He was referring to the remote control for the TV which he sometimes misplaced himself. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at the Lundar Community Hall with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Interment to follow in the Lundar Municipal Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dennis Johnson, Art Heesaker, Herb Bottcher, Jason Young and his grandsons, Tom Cramp and Keifer Johnson. The family wishes to give a million thanks to Dr. Burnett and the wonderful staff at the hospital for their very compassionate care Dad received. A special thanks to Werner, Dad's Pal. Also, a thank you to the staff at the Lundar Pharmacy for their support and advice over the last while -- it was appreciated! In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Rest Peacefully, Dad Love U Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOME LTD. Ashern - Lundar 1-204-768-2072
