Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANKLIN GISLI GILLIS It is with mixed feelings that we announce the passing of Frank Gillis, peacefully on December 8, 2006, surrounded by his family at St. Boniface Hospital. After a lengthy and courageous battle with emphysema, Dad/Afi is finally resting in peace. Frank was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, June, in 1988, and brothers Oscar, Ragnar and Arni and brother-in-law Arni Gillis. He will be lovingly remembered by daughters: Judy (Georges) Cormier, Marilyn (Lorne) Johnston, Kathy Pion, son, Barry (Susan) Gillis, grandchildren Linsy and Karey Pion, Jesse Johnston, Carlee and Chad Cormier, Maxwell and Westyn Gillis. He will also be missed by his brother John Gillis, sisters Olive Gillis, Sigga (Charlie) Hildebrand, sisters-in-law Helga Gillis, Emily Dahl and Marlene (Jim) Brady, many nieces and nephews. Frank was born September 14, 1922, in the Icelandic farming community of 1-6 near Morden. He joined the signal corps in 1943, which is where he met the love of his life, our mom, June MacMillan. They married in 1946 and always lived in Winnipeg. Dad later worked for British United Press, and then worked for James Richardson and Sons Limited in communications until he retired in 1986. Dad was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and will be missed by many friends, including those who shared many good times with Mom and Dad at the St. Vital Legion. Dad was a very quiet, gentle and honest man, unassuming and modest. A man of few words, he could find the shortest way of saying anything. He was a loving father and proud of his family which was all-important to him. Dad, we are proud of your strength and will always be thankful to have had you for our dad/afi. A celebration of Frank's life will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, December 13th, Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Sincere thanks to Dr Shah, and the staff of St. Boniface Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association or a charity of your choice. arrangement entrusted to: Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550
