PETER GOERTZEN Peacefully on December 9, 2006 at the Emerson Personal Care Home with his loving family at his side, Peter passed away at the age of 88 years. Born on August 17, 1918 in Alexanderpole, Russia, Peter's family fled to Canada in 1924 to escape the instability of the country in the hope of finding peace and freedom for their young family. Peter's memory will forever be cherished by his wife Berthe (Gregoire); his four children, George (Evelyne), Suzanne Braun (Loren), Marie Beaudette (Norman), and Roger; six grandchildren, Brigitte Doerksen (Warren), Robert Goertzen (Lindsay Bunn), Martin Beaudette (Kimberley Cooper), Joelene Gouchie (Paul), Tina Beaudette (Mark Rodger), and Colin Braun (Brigitte Marion); and seven great grandchildren, Brittany, Megan, Tori, and Deryn Doerksen, Bailey and Cooper Beaudette, and Paige Braun. Peter is also survived by his two brothers, Cornelius of BC and John (Norma) of Altona; sister Helen Kustra of Winnipeg; and his in-laws, Adeline and Marcel Fillion, Leola Parent, Celima and Georges Bruneau, and Aurore Gregoire. He will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends old and new. Peter was predeceased by his father Franz, mother Helena, brother Frank, sister Agnes, mother-in-law Alphonsine, father-in-law Hermas, brothers-in-law Bert Waters, Aaron Schultz, Emile Hohendorff, Michael Kustra, Alphonse Gregoire, and Roger Parent, and sister-in-law Mary Goertzen. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 14 at 2:00 p.m. at the Roman Catholic Church in St. Jean Baptiste, with viewing at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Peter to the Emerson Personal Care Home, Box 428, Emerson, MB, R0A 0L0.
