MINNIE HANNAH (ANNE) KEATCH On Sunday, December 10, 2006, surrounded by her family, Anne Keatch passed away at the Grace Hospital. Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband Gordon; sons, Ronald (Janice) of Phoenix, AZ and Donald (Sheila); grandchildren, Allison Frank (Jack), Erin, Michael and great-grandson Ethan, Dorothy and Ron Keizer, Brigitte Meier; niece Sally Metcalfe (Brian); nephew John Figgures (Linda), Dan and Mary-Lou McKinnon, Edna McKinnon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Australia and her dear friends, Alan and Veronica Jenkinson in England. Predeceased by her parents, grandson Graham and sister Florence Figgures Anne was born and raised in Winnipeg and in her early working years taught school. During the Second World War, she was a hostess at the Airmen's Club and it was there she met her future husband, Gordon, who had come from Australia for air crew training. In 1946, she travelled by ship to Melbourne where they were married. Two years later they returned to Winnipeg and started raising a family. She was a devoted wife and mother whose home was her pride and joy, where she hosted countless parties, family dinners and Boxing Day brunches. They have now lived 50 years in Silver Heights and on November 25 celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Travel played a large role in Anne's life. In earlier times it was car trips with the children to the southern states and summers at Detroit Lakes, MN. The South Pacific was also a mecca - Tahiti, Australia, New Zealand and more than 30 years wintering in Hawaii. There were many visits to England and France and even a cruise along the west Turkish coast. Ever the student, Anne studied Russian and French and her pottery and sewing is treasured. She loved bridge, though was seldom dealt a decent hand! A private family celebration of her life has been held. The family gives many thanks to the staff at the Grace Hospital and especially Sheila Hilf at Deer Lodge Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anne's memory may be made to Manitoba Theatre Centre Endowment Fund, 174 Market Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3B 0P8. Anne's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
