RAYNOLD WILLIAM GERLING March 30, 1978 December 11, 2006 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Raynold William Gerling on December 11, 2006, at 28 years of age. Ray leaves behind his wife, Lindsay Fushtey; father Rudy Gerling; mother Lorraine Gerling-Halversson (Arnould); brother Rudy E. Gerling and fiancée Linda Janssen; grandmother (his Oma) in Germany; Christel, Derek, Gavin and Leah Kosolofski; nieces Brandyn and Mikaela; uncle Ken Mitchell who held a very special place in Ray's heart, and auntie Camillia Mitchell (Arnould); Pastor Mark Woods (Ray's mentor); friend Cam Randall; and many cousins and friends who will miss him greatly. Ray always had dreams, ambitions and goals. Ray was enrolled at Winnipeg Technical College to begin the electrician course in September, 2007. Ray always looked on the brighter side of life, even when times were tough for him. Ray was always there for his friends and family. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. As a child, Ray loved sports, especially hockey and the love for the sport continued throughout his life. Ray had a strong belief in being able to heal his soul through worship, and he found solace at Rowandale Baptist Church where he met his friend and mentor, Pastor Mark Woods who gave him guidance, support and direction in all aspects of his life. If I asked you for a hug, I'd never have to ask you twice. You always gave such happiness to those you were around. But now that you are gone the only thing I found is the sorrow, loneliness, mourning and an awful sobbing sound. Ray, I will miss the way you always had a smile and now that you're with God I won't see you for awhile. Now as I remember you, I have begun to cry, for I cannot stop asking myself the painful question why? I do not question God, for He works mysteriously and I know He had His reasons for taking you from me. I know that God will reunite us and upon that special day, you will take me by the hand and lead me on my way. I poured my heart and heartbreak into this poem, which I dedicate to you Ray. I will miss your smile, your laughs, your hugs and the tears we shared. I will miss everything you are and everything you do. A celebration of Ray's life will be held at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, on Friday, December 15, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Road, Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1X3, in memory of Raynold Gerling. You came into my life suddenly and unexpectedly and parted just the same. I will miss you and thank you for the time we shared together. I Love You Baby xoxo.
