LISA AMANDA FRIDA MOHR (nee POHLMANN) 1921-2006 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Lisa Mohr announces the passing of our dear Mother and Oma, on December 11, 2006, at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. Mom will be missed dearly by her daughter, Ulrike Syrota-Hatherly (Gerry); sons, William and Robert, and grandsons, Jason and Terry of Winnipeg, as well as her sister, Gertrud Wagner of Germany. Mom was predeceased by her husband Jakob in 1983, and her parents, Willy Oskar Theobald and Louise Wilhelmine Pohlmann. Mom was born on April 12, 1921, in Wittstock-Dosse, Germany. During the war, she was a Morse Code Operator, stationed in France. She immigrated to Canada from Germany in July 1952, with her husband and daughter. Mom began her career at Health Science Centre in 1962, retiring from The Department of Radiology in 1985. She shared many stories about her work and especially the fun they had in the Rose Room with her co-workers and Doctors. Many fun vacations were had at Grand Beach and later in Lac du Bonnet where she enjoyed and loved spending time with friends and family. Her knitting was always popular until blindness took its toll. Mom was the biggest fan and supporter of her son's and grandsons' soccer team. She was called Oma (The Orange Lady) by all the players. Her grandsons' were her world and she was always involved in their lives. Mom's battle with many medical problems was fought with bravery and strength. She was able to keep the Fire in her Spirit to the end. Many heart felt thanks to the staff at Lion's Manor Supportive Housing and The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. The family extends their warmest appreciation for their help, kindness and compassion. A special thank you to Dr. Fayez Salem for his care and counseling. Mom will be sadly missed but will always be in our hearts! A Memorial Service will be held at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg or a charity of your choice.
