GUY LE GAL Peacefully, on December 2, 2006, Guy Le Gal, son, brother, spouse, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach. Guy will be sadly missed by his wife of 39 years, Gisèle (née Fiola); his son André, his daughter in law, Isabelle Blais and his grandchildren, Gabrielle and Mélodie. Guy is preceded by two of his children Julie 1977 and Joey 1983. He also leaves to mourn, his sisters and his brother, Yvette (Edgar) Poirier, Denis (Berthe née Balcaen), Anita (Wesley) Caldwell, Lorraine (Louis) Gauvreau, Diane (émile) Trudeau, Monique (Raymond) Paulhus, many nephews, nieces, and friends. All will miss Guy's loving and kind ways. Guy is also preceded by his father Joachim, 1984; his mother Lodia (née Laporte) 2000; his two brothers, Jean Paul 2006 and Roland 1955; his sister Thérèse Gendreau 1996 and his nephew Guy Gendreau 1973. Guy was born on November 3, 1945 in Richer, Mantioba on a small dairy farm where he devoted most of his time helping his parents until he was 21 years old. Although his time at school was short-lived, Guy was an avid learner in the school of life. In 1966 he started working for the City of Winnipeg (Water Waste Management) and was planning to take his retirement in April 2007. Guy always tackled his work with dedication, precision and perseverance. He welcomed challenges and was a problem solver with no task too small nor too great for him. In 1967 Guy wed the love of his life, Gisèle and together they had three wonderful children, André, Julie and Joey. Guy was a loving, caring and supportive husband and father. Guy was a man of great faith who believed in the goodness of humanity. He certainly left a positive mark on everyone who crossed his path. Guy was also proud of his French cultural heritage. Music was Guy's greatest pastime and prayer to God; whether playing the mandolin, the guitar, the violin, or the harmonica, singing, and playing in skits, Guy always gave it his best. Although he played many different styles of music his preference was traditional French and spiritual music. Guy was certainly a talented musician but foremost an entertainer; with instrument in hand, in front of an audience, his fun loving personality would come alive. In the last years he was part of a musical group, les Frères Guy (1987 - 2004); Guy Lacroix, Guy Manaigre and Guy Loyer became true brothers. These four musicians lived in the same area, had the same first names, enjoyed music and having fun sharing their talent. Funeral mass to celebrate Guy's life was held on December 8, 2006 at église Notre Dame de Lorette in Lorette, MB. The mass was celebrated by Father Armand Le Gal, concelebrated by Father Marcel Chaput, Father Maurice Janneau and deacon, Mr. Gérard Desrosiers. Internment took place at the Prairie Grove cemetery. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all who supported them by their visits, phone calls, cards, prayers, numerous kind gestures, and participation at Guy's funeral mass. We greatly appreciated the excellent care that Guy received on the palliative unit of the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach. Dear Guy, your warmth, your gentleness, your smile, your joie de vivre and your pride for the French culture and spirituality have touched us ever so gently and we will miss your compassionate disposition.
