DENNIS EARL BARGEN October 4, 1947 - December 11, 2006 We regret to announce the sudden passing of Dennis Bargen after a short illness. Dennis will be sadly missed by his loving wife Judy; son Cale (Amy Flowers); and daughter Leeanne (Rob Berry). He will also be missed by his mother Helen Hammond (Fred); his mother and father-in-law Brian and Theresa Taylor; brother-in-law, Doug and Debbie Taylor; nieces, Brooke Van Bussel (Glen) and Sarah Taylor; cousins, neighbours, and countless friends. Dennis was born in Winnipeg to Henry and Helen Bargen. They moved to Winnipeg from the farm on Lido Plage Road where he grew up and went to school in Silver Heights. After his father passed away in 1969, Dennis took over the family farm and continued operating it until 1996. He and Judy were married August 7, 1971 and moved to the farm west of Headingley. Cale was born in 1974, Leeanne in 1975. Since retiring from farming, Dennis kept busy during the summers working at various places, including Wall Grain. Dennis had many interests: he loved anything that went fast, especially muscle cars, snowmobiles and dragsters. He was very active with the local snowmobile club and loved riding with his buddies. He also enjoyed donating his time and efforts in maintaining the trail groomer and the trails for others to enjoy. West Hawk Lake has been a special place for most of his life because of the many special friends and good times he shared and enjoyed there. Almost every day around home began with a trip to one of the local Headingley coffee shops for a good visit. Many afternoons ended at Dyck's farm shop for happy hour . He enjoyed hunting with his friends, both human and canine. Always at his side were Blue, Splinter, or Blue #2. Dennis had a famous reputation for keeping his equipment in tip-top shape and always clean. He is rumored to have single handedly kept all the local car washes in business over the years. The sheds, full of John Deere equipment, were pampered and treated to fresh coats of wax at least once a year. A celebration of Dennis' life will be held on Saturday, December 16 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of one's choice. Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Reception Centre 885-9715
