EDWARD WILLIAM PETERS May 4, 1926 December 12, 2006 On Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at the Salvation Army Grace General Hospital, Edward passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Edward was predeceased by his parents Edward Ernest and Mary Rose, his brother Harold, his sister Violet Rose and an infant daughter Susan Lynn. Remaining to cherish Ed's memory are his loving wife Lillian, daughters, Dianne (Louis) and Barb (Marvin), and his grandsons Jason and Andrew. Edward was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB. He joined the Navy in 1943 and was stationed in Halifax, NS. It was in Cherry Hill, NS where he met Lillian and after the war Lillian moved to Winnipeg where they were married on March 15, 1946. After the war he worked as a Parts Salesman at Breen Motors, Carter Motors and finally Eastern Chrysler Ltd until his retirement. He was a member of the Masonic Order, and is now Past Worshipful Master of Charleswood Lodge and Past District Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Manitoba. He was also in the Order of the Eastern Star and was a Past Patron. He was also a 54 year member of the Fort Rouge Legion. He loved helping others and for many years played the role of Santa Claus at various Children's Christmas Parties, Daycares and at Zeller's in Westwood. He loved his family and would do anything for them always putting himself second. He also enjoyed his cottage, at Jessica Lake in the Whiteshell, in the summer and he enjoyed woodworking and refinishing furniture. We would like to thank the paramedics, doctors and nurses in the Emergency Unit, Stretcher Bay North and 3 South for their care, kindness and compassion during his short stay in the Grace Hospital. The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 18, 2006 at 11:00 am at St. Chad Anglican Church, corner of Portage Avenue and Rouge Road. Reverend Gordon Shields will be officiating. Viewing prior to the service. Interment will be at Chapel Lawn.
