MARY FROESE Peacefully, after an illness of a few weeks, Mary Froese of North Kildonan, aged 93, passed into the presence of the Lord. Mary Froese (nee Wiebe) was born in Ukraine on August 10, 1913, and fled with her family to Canada in 1929. She married Abram Froese in 1935, and the couple lived in a number of farming communities in Southern Manitoba before settling in Winnipeg in 1951. Soon after their move to Winnipeg, where they raised their five children, Mary and Abe joined the North Kildonan Brethren Mennonite Church. Mary was a loving wife and mother, and efficient homemaker. She was always a woman of prayer. Mary Froese was predeceased by her husband Abe who died in 2001, as well as by two children, Marggie Jossul in 1975 and Arthur Froese in 2000. She will be sorely missed by her children, Abe (Jeanette) Froese of Vancouver, Mary (Jack) Shier of Vancouver, and Hildi (Paul) Froese Tiessen of Kitchener-Waterloo; and by her many grandchildren and step-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 18 at 1:00 p.m. at North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, corner of Springfield and Gateway, with private family interment prior to the service. Viewing Sunday, December 17 from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the caring staff of Donwood Manor Personal Care Home and to Mary's special friends, Tina Kaehler, Alwiera Kaehler, and Annie Reekie.
