MAVIS SHIRLEY PARKER On Monday, December 11, 2006 at the age of 79, Mavis S. Parker passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre. With her passing, she is reunited with her family and lifetime love, husband Stanley R. Parker and with her daughter, Charlene E. Mowat. She will be greatly missed by her only son-in-law Alex Mowat and her two granddaughters, Heather Mowat and Tammy Mowat (Jared Blair). Mavis S. Parker was born on April 5, 1927 in , Ontario. As the last living family member of her 6 siblings and parents, Mavis cherished her roots. Her greatest loves were family and nature. Enjoying the outdoors and teaching and sharing with her precious granddaughters gave her the most joy. For the past 21 years Mavis loved spending time at the cottage on Jessica Lake where she would sit on the deck and look out over the water. The beautiful view and the tranquility of her favourite spot brought a smile to her face and peace to her heart. Many weekends were spent with Mavis. She was a loving mother and grandmother. In her own very special and quiet way, she was creative and intuitive knowing what you needed and making you feel loved. She inspired her granddaughters by delighting them with creative projects and simple adventures. She loved to joke with Alex saying he was her favourite son-in-law which made everyone laugh. She never complained and she hated to be a bother to anyone. Mavis was a quiet and beautiful person with a boundless heart. Mavis loved her daughter passionately. There wasn't a week that went by without the two spending time together. Mavis never missed a visit. Rain or shine, buses and taxi's Mavis would make it to the daughter she loved more than anything sometimes five days a week. It broke her heart to lose her only child, but Mavis never complained or troubled anyone - that's just how she was. A strong, independent and determined woman, she was a pillar of strength throughout her long and full life. Mavis will be greatly missed by her granddaughters and by her son-in-law - along with everyone she knew and loved. It brings us sadness and yet a sense of peace for we know she will be met with open arms by her husband and daughter as her dreams of her cherished family and loves are reunited. All the Thank-you's in the world could never be enough to express our heartfelt gratitude to the incredible staff of Riverview's AB 2. Thank you for embracing us and becoming our family. A private family service will be held, officiated by Reverend Glen Morison. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Mavis' memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba (10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2) or to Riverview Health Centre Foundation (1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 2P4). We'll miss you to pieces. You will always be in our hearts Love Alex, Heather, Tammy and Jared CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
