GEORGE WESLEY (WES) HETHERINGTON November 13, 1920 December 13, 2006 Peacefully, at the Grace Hospital, Wes passed away after a very short illness. Wes is survived by his nieces, Vicki (Jerry) Fostey and Lorene Allen; his sister Marguerite (Art) Jones, all of St. James, as well as many nieces and nephews. Uncle Wes was born in St. James and resided there for most of his 86 years. For the past fours years he was a resident of Tower 4 at Deer Lodge Centre, where he was able to enjoy many activities and outings. Wes was raised on Parkview Street by his parents, George and Bessie, along with brother Edwin and sisters, Marguerite, Betty and Kay. As a young man he joined the Army and served overseas with the Queen's own Cameron Highlanders of Canada during the Second World War. He enjoyed riding motorcycle dispatch and often talked of the wonderful people he met in Holland. After the war Wes joined the Air Force until 1960 and later worked at various jobs for several years before retiring. Wes enjoyed collecting key chains and coins. He was a member of the St. James Legion and loved to meet with friends there for a game of pool. A small family interment will be held in Brookside Cemetery. Special thanks to the wonderful caring staff on Tower 4 at Deer Lodge as well as the staff at Grace Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Deer Lodge Centre, 2109 Portage Ave. Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3. Wes's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 4665
