LEONARD ROSS Peacefully, surrounded by his family, on December 13, 2006 at Riverview Health Centre, Leonard Ross passed away at the age of 70. He was predeceased by his father, John Ross, his twin brother Larry (1986) and his infant brother Bertie. He leaves to mourn his wife of 47 years Aileen, mother Elsie Ross, sons, Curtis (Tara), and Kevin (Shauna), grandchildren, Meaghan (Jason), Nicholas, Carter and Aidan. He also survived by brothers, Jack (Maxine), Wayne (Dale), Ron (Irene), and Jim (Florence) as well as sisters, Mary, Anne (John), Barbara (Lloyd) and sister-in-law Lillian Ross and many nieces and nephews. Leonard grew up in Kinosota, Manitoba and was never happier than when he was fishing or golfing with his sons, grandchildren and friends. Spending time at camp at Lake Manitoba Narrows was a favourite past time. Leonard spent his early working years as a journeyman insulator and member of Local 99. Later he and Aileen operated Alonsa Transfer for 25 years. Their kitchen was a favourite coffee spot and Len loved to have visitors and tell stories. Len was active in the Alonsa Legion Branch #151 and held the position of president for many years. Leonard will forever be missed by his best friend and partner, Aileen. Whether it was making perogies, running a business or travelling, they were a wonderful team. Special thanks to the excellent staff in Riverview's 3rd floor palliative care unit. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens on Monday, December 18, 2006. The Reverend Jona Weitzel will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leonard's name will be gratefully accepted by CancerCare Manitoba, Riverview Health Centre, or a charity of your choice.
