LEONORA SELMA FUNK (nee REDEKOP) It is with great sadness and deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Nora Funk, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister and friend on December 15, 2006 at the age of 70 years, at Riverview Health Centre. Nora was predeceased by her older sister Marlene Redekop, and her parents, Antonina and Gerhard Redekop. Nora is lovingly remembered and will be greatly missed by her husband and best friend of 51 years, Ernest Funk and her three children, Keely Dyck, Kerri Turner and Kirby Funk, and sons-in-law Tony Dyck and Al Turner. She also leaves to mourn her memory John Sawatzky along with grandchildren, Shanny (fiancé Ryan), Mark and Kyle Dyck; Jason and Mel Sawatzky, Jenna, Kaila, Karl and Kathleen Sawatzky and great-grandchild Taylor Sawatzky; her brothers, Richard (Elfrieda) Redekop, and Rudy (Friede) Redekop and in-laws, John and Anne Funk, Katy and John Kolks; along with many nieces and nephews and friends. Prior to retirement Nora worked at Dycks Containers and with that experience started her partnership business, Quality Pallets. Nora lived for and enjoyed her family and the times spent with them. She loved to spend every waking moment outside in God's glory. When I am gone, release me, let me go I have so many things to see and do, You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears; Be happy that we had so many years I gave to you my love, you can only guess How much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for all the love you each have shown, But now it's time I travelled on alone. So grieve for a while for me if grieve you must; Then let your grief be comforted by trust, It's only for a while that we must part, So bless the memories within your heart. I won't be far away, for life goes on; So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see me or touch me, I'll be near And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear All of my love around you soft and clear. And then when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and say Welcome home . Celebration of Nora's life will be on Monday, December 18, at 1:30 p.m. at North Kildonan Mennonite Church, 1131 Roch Street. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. FRIENDS FUNERAL SERVICE 2146 Main Street 339-5555
