Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALVIN LESLIE MILLER On December 8, 2006 at Kelowna General Hospital, Alvin Leslie Miller passed away quietly after a short battle with cancer at the age of 85. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Betty (2001), and is survived by sons, Calvin (Lynn) of Winnipeg, Jack (Heather) of Vancouver, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alvin was born February 27, 1921, grew up in Starbuck, MB and was raised along with three brothers and a sister by his mother Blanche from age six. As a young man, he enjoyed outside work, loved horses and played a lot of hockey. In 1947 he and Betty were married, at the time he worked as a heavy equipment operator for the municipality and lived in Starbuck. Family began a year and a half later and in 1951 Alvin joined Manitoba Pool Elevators to train as a grain buyer relocating to Sanford where he remained for the next 34 years. During that time, Alvin and Betty brought up their sons and became active in curling and golf, both sports he enjoyed watching and playing until well on into retirement. In early 1986 Alvin and Betty retired and moved to Kelowna, BC where they enjoyed a milder climate and new acquaintances associated with the change in lifestyle. Alvin also got to play much more golf with a longer season, much to his enjoyment. Having had a long, active life with good health, he has enjoyed his time here. We will miss you Dad. Cremation has already taken place. No funeral is to be held, but there will be a graveside memorial held in the spring at Starbuck.
