CATHERINE JOYCE BORYS (nee KOLMATISKI) December 15, 1935 December 15, 2006 With great sadness, after a brief illness, Joyce passed away on Friday, December 15, 2006 with her loving and devoted children by her side. Mom's memory will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her dedicated children, Patricia (Glen) and Myron; sisters, Elsie Huminiuk, Winnie Turkitch and Evelyn Kulikowski; brothers, Jimmy (Edith) Colmer, Oliver (Bernice) Kolmatiski; brother-in-law Johnny (Lesia) Borys; sisters-in-law, Vera Colmer, Margaret Colmer; extended families and friends. Mom was predeceased by our dad Nick; parents, Catherine and Michael Kolmatiski; brothers, Billy Colmer and Henry Colmer; brothers-in-law, William Turkitch and Adam Kulikowski; and parents-in-law, Parankia and Wasyl Borys. Mom was born at the Selkirk General Hospital being the seventh of 8 children and was raised on the family farm in East Selkirk. As a young widow, Mom always put our needs and best interests first. Family was everything to Mom. Mom always expressed a deep faith in God and knew that the Lord was ultimately in charge of her life, a life that was full of love and laughter. She was a beautiful dancer who graced the dance floor at many barn dances and social gatherings. She loved doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles and completed several Sudoku books before being diagnosed with her illness. Mom enjoyed swimming, long walks and spending time with those she held dear to her heart. Joyce in her early years, worked for Canada Permanent and then Office Overload. In her later years, she worked for the Government of Manitoba retiring from the Telecommunications branch after 19 years of service. Heart-felt thanks are extended to Mom's family doctor Dr. De Silva, the caring staff and doctors of the Neurology ward at HSC with special recognition given to Murray and Julie who went above and beyond their duties in caring for our Mom. As well, we were so blessed that Mom's final stay was at the Grace Hospice where Mom received the utmost in care and love. Special thanks are given to Amanda and Gaye for their guidance and outstanding care during this difficult time. Pallbearers will be Allan Beaton, Johnny Borys, Wayne Kolmatiski, Paul Kolmatiski, Dale Kulikowski and Allan Turkitch. Prayers will be held on Monday, December 18, at 7:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 19 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Avenue with Rev. Fr. Raymond Lukie C.Ss.R. officiating.
