ELSIE ZAHARIA February 24, 1915 - December 15, 2006 Elsie Zaharia, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Wayne (Mary) and Brian (Linda); daughters, Linda Rushnik and Lisa (Kevin) Rach; grandchildren, Kevin (Jan), Dayna (Bruce) Kowalchuk, Ryan (Deanna), Cindy, Chris, Jackie, Jodi, Gary, Darryl (Julie) and Brent; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Ashlyn, Addison, Krystal, Rheanna, Rylan, Nicki, Robyn, Rachel, Brandi, Ashley, Bryon and Michael; sisters, Vina, Della, Marjie (Edward) and Jean (John); brother Norman (Rose) Kamins; numerous nieces and nephews. Elsie was predeceased by her husband William on December 19, 1993; son-in-law Gary Rushnik; brothers, Bill and Art; sister Eileen; sisters-in-law, Del and Jean; brothers-in-law, Glenn Hemphill, Jim Light and Mike Phillips. Elsie or Mrs. Z as she was affectionately known, had a home that was always open to family and friends where you were always welcome. Her interests included cards, bingo, trips to the casino, as well as horse races in her earlier days. Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 19 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elsie's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
