JOHN ALBERT CAMERON It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our husband, father and grandfather, John, at Seven Oaks Hospital on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at 60 years of age. After a courageous battle with cancer and respiratory condition, John succumbed to his illness with his family at his side. Remaining to cherish his memories is his wife Lillian of 38 years, sons, Chris (Adrienne), Jamie (Rita), Jeffrey; granddaughters, Crystal, Jaelyn and one on the way. John is also survived by his sisters Sandra and Grace, his brothers Jim, Murray and David and numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his mother Vera Sigurdson, sisters Margaret and Judy, and aunt and uncle Violet and Bert Chitty. John was born in Gimli, MB and moved to Winnipeg at an early age where he attended St. James Collegiate and later Tec Voc High School. He met his high school sweetheart Lil in 1963 and they married in 1968. They raised three fine sons whom John fondly referred to as Son #1, #2 and #3. John was employed as a cable splicer at MTS from June 1966 and retired in June 1996. He drove school bus for H S Transport and Kings Transport until his medical condition resulted in his full retirement in January 2005. He loved his little people and missed driving. They had referred to John as the King of the bus . He also was a loyal Blue Bomber fan who held season tickets for many years. John's true passion was life at the cottage with his family and friends. He enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing and boating and sharing campfire stories. He loved shooting home movies with his favorite expression: You're on Cameron's Camera! John has left a legacy of home movie footage for his family to cherish and remember. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street with viewing half an hour before the service. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba in John's name. Memories are treasures no one can steal, Death is a heartache no one can seal. We hold you close within our hearts, And there you will remain. John, what can i say...other than you had a King's courage and joy for life - and for the great outdoors - which you shared with everyone from home & family parties to campsite rip-roaring escapades showing your true Canadian heritage. You've been a great brother, incredible father 'with my 3 sons' as you often said...only to extend this love for children to all the kids you met while driving the Bus when you retired. For nothing could keep you idle, being a hard worker all your life - teaching all your fine qualities 'by example'. You were also a handsome choir boy as a kid and superb skilled master Journeyman Electrician...wherein when taking coffee- breaks with your co-workers, they referred to you as 'Our Electrician's King - holding Court' for all the young men you taught on the job. Once after i flew into Winnipeg from Vancouver, you pointed out to an underground street work space and told me that's where your office was. You taught all the brothers the immense value of sharing *& participating in rip-roaring good humor throughout life; bringing to mind that mom referred to her Hall of photos of us all as teengagers of the 60's : as 'her, rogue's gallery.; With you & your many Weston friends leading the way, we had great teenage parties...I've never felt you were ever gone, John...always with us. Love from sister Grace and my family to yours. - Posted by: Grace inga Sigurdson (sister) on: Jan 18, 2016
