Martin was born in Ledwyn, MB on October 23, 1933, third son of Katherine and Joseph Okolita. Besides his loving wife, Vangie of 45 years, Martin is survived by his three loving children, Connie Holigroski (Bob), Tamara Strecker (Darrin) and Dennis Okolita. His pride and joy were his three grandchildren, Tegan Holigroski and Bethany and Christian Strecker. He also leaves to mourn his passing his brother Mike (Helen) of Fort Qu'Appelle, SK; sisters, Anne Cowan of Winnipeg and Irene Boden (Ed) of Camrose, AB. In addition, he also leaves his sisters-in-law, Sharon Okolita of Winnipeg, Betty Martin, Dorothy Sackvie, and Lillie Rosentreter (Dan) all of Beausejour. He was predeceased by his father Joseph in 1960; his mother Katherine in 1981; sister Olga and husband Eugene Lazar; brother Alex, and brother-in-law Burleigh Cowan. He was also predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Fred Martin and Roy Sackvie. Martin completed Teacher's College and later attended the University of Manitoba where he obtained both his B.Sc. and B.Ed. degrees. Over his 33 year teaching career, Martin taught hundreds of students, and took great pride in their accomplishments, always pointing out when one of his students was successful later in their lives. Martin took an early retirement in 1988 to spend more time with his wife and family. We would like to thank Dr. Zeiler, Dr Demsas, Dr. Hussain, Dr. Harris and his chemo nurses Bev, Mel and Debbie and all the staff at the Selkirk General and Beausejour Hospital.
