After their retirement in 1984, they enjoyed travelling and spending winters on Vancouver Island. Both Kay and Murray were active in the community. Kay especially enjoyed curling at the Minaki Curling Club and attending bonspiels in the neighbouring communities. Mom loved cooking and baking and anyone who happened by for coffee never left hungry. She always kept a good supply of fresh baking available for the regulars who visited Dad at the service station. Mom spent her last few years in Kenora at Parkview apartments and enjoyed her Monday night bingo games. She especially enjoyed her great-grandchildren and regaling everyone she saw with stories. At Mom's request, immediate cremation will take place and her ashes will be spread in Minaki at a later date. The family would like to thank doctors, Bowerman, Beveridge, Thomas and the 3rd floor nursing staff for their compassion and special care of Mom during her brief stay. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kay's memory can be made to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, 21 Sylvan Street, Kenora, ON P9N 3W7.
