Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES BENOIT DANDENAULT 1934 - 2006 On December 1, 2006 our brother Charlie passed away peacefully at the Whitehorse, YT hospital. Predeceased by his parents, Levis and Laurette (Coté). He leaves to mourn two brothers, Luc (Irene) and Ronald (Michel); four sisters, Pauline (Marcel), Lise, Edith (Bob) and Joanne (Ted) and many nieces and nephews. Charles was raised on a dairy farm south of St-Pierre-Jolys. During his school years in St-Pierre and St. Boniface College, he was very active in hockey and baseball. At 16 years of age, with his parents' consent, he left for Edmonton, then hitchhiked to Fahler, AB to work on construction. Later he worked in an asbestos mine in Northern British Columbia. Two years later he was back home helping his father on the farm, but he preferred the bush camps, mining and road construction. Better known up North as Laughing Charlie , he could at times be loud and jovial and liven up a crowd. Being from a close-knit family, he rarely missed a family wedding, anniversary or funeral. For the past 35 years, he called Whitehorse home. Fighting with diabetes later in life, he always remained loyal to family, friends and neighbours. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life was held in Whitehorse on December 16. A graveside memorial will be held at the St-Pierre-Jolys Cemetery at a later date.
