CORNELIA CROSBY (nee BUCKINX) December 17, 1914 - December 18, 2006 Sadly, on Monday, December 18, one day after her 92nd birthday, Cora passed away. She was predeceased by her husband Reginald; her parents, Hubert and Cornelia Buckinx; her brothers, Robert and Henry (Bucky), as well as her sister Mary (Paul). Cora leaves to mourn and cherish her memory her loving son William and wife Kimberly; her sister Betty (Fortin); sisters-in-law Minerva Buckinx and Lorraine Buckinx; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews; as well as many, many wonderful friends. Cora was born in Springfield, MB to Hubert and Cornelia (Van Hull) at the family home of her grandmother. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Canada Packers in Fort Frances, ON and Winnipeg, MB, before going to work for North American Lumber in Transcona as a bookkeeper. She was a member of the Transcona Memorial United Church and the U.C.W. as well as Rebecca's Lodge #40 and the Transcona Legion #7 Ladies Auxiliary. In her early years, Cora enjoyed golf, curling and bowling (where she met and later married Reg in 1955). At one time Cora was a member of the St. Boniface Golf Club. As well, mom and dad enjoyed dancing to the sounds of the big bands and many a Friday night would find them dancing at the Legion or any other function in the city. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the wonderful staff of 3 South at Deer Lodge for their care and compassion. A Memorial service to celebrate Cora's life will be held on Thursday, December 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the Transcona Memorial United Church 209 Yale Avenue West with Rev. Jeff Cook officiating. In lieu of flowers if friends so wish, donations may be made in Cora's memory, to the Khartum Shriners Transportation Fund or a charity of choice.
