GEORGE WILLIAM CUFFE 1926 - 2006 Peacefully, on Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at St. Boniface Hospital, our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 80 years, as a result of cancer. He leaves to mourn his passing Irene, his beloved wife of over 60 years, who now resides at the Tuxedo Villa Nursing Home. He also will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his son Terry and wife Pat; daughter Valdine and husband Ken; and grandchildren, Jennifer, Sandra and Joanne Cuffe, as well as many relations, co-workers and friends. Dad was born in Birtle, Manitoba on February 26, 1926. He and his sister, Frances, grew up on the farm and went to school in Brandon, where his mother was a nurse. George served in the Canadian Navy during the Second World War. On August 3, 1945 he married Irene Evelyn Nicolson, the one and only love of his life. George and Irene were inseparable. George worked for the City of Winnipeg Hydro for many decades, rising up through the ranks to become Shift Supervisor at the Central Control Station located on Grant Avenue. We will always remember our father and grandfather and are grateful for the values he instilled in us and the example he set. He was a great role model in the way he lived his life. Our Dad will be sorely missed. The family wishes to thank Dr. Ahluwalia, as well as the staff of Floor 6A of the St. Boniface Hospital, who provided such compassionate care. According to his wishes, there will be no service. Interment in Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley St. Cards may be sent to Irene Cuffe, c/o Terry Cuffe, 6336 Malvern Ave., Burnaby, BC V5E 3G1.
