A. CLARENCE McLEAN 1924 - 2006 After a lengthy illness, Clarence passed away at the Swan Valley Health Centre in Swan River, MB on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at the age of 82 years. Clarence was born on July 25, 1924 at Davidson, SK, to John Duncan McLean and Jane (McKellar) McLean. Clarence moved with his family to the Ditton Park District, near Alysham in 1927, where he attended Ditton Park School until his Dad homesteaded at Choiceland, SK in 1936, where he attended Mossy Glen School. Clarence went to work at an early age, working at saw mills in the winter and on the farm in the summer. He helped build the house on the farm. He joined the army in 1944 and served a short time. Clarence met Stella Lewicki in Sherridon, MB and they were married in 1952. Clarence went to work at Sherritt Gordon Mines in Sherridon, MB in 1953 and he then became involved in moving the town of Sherridon to the new community of Lynn Lake. This was a move of a complete community 160 miles north of Sherridon by tractor trains over frozen lakes and rugged terrain. He worked for Sherritt Gordon Mines as a millwright for 33 years. Upon his retirement in 1986, he moved to Swan River. Clarence loved to tinker with anything mechanical and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He also enjoyed fishing, playing crib and socializing with his many friends. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Stella, and daughter Diane (Glen) Semaniuk, son Ron (Cathy) Lewicki, four grandchildren, three great-grand-children, many nieces, nephews and other numerous relatives. He was predeceased by his parents, Jane and John; three brothers, Don, Lorne and Ken, and his son, David Lewicki. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Should friends so desire, memorial donations in Clarence's memory may be made to the CancerCare Foundation of Manitoba, Swan Valley Animal Protection League or to the Swan Valley Health Facilities Foundation Inc. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Jim Webster of Swan Valley Funeral Services Ltd., 363 Kelsey Trail (Hwy. 10 North), Swan River, MB (204) 734-5775.
