Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTANISLAWA (STELLA) ISKIERSKI On Saturday, December 23, 2006, Stella, beloved mother and grandmother passed away with family by her side. Stella is survived by daughter Emily; son Henry, his wife Debbie and children Nicholas, Robert, Jennifer, and Monika; son Richard, his wife Deborah and daughters Kristy and Carly; and son Zygmunt, his wife Karen and children Daniel, Timothy and Janina, whom all reside in Winnipeg. She also leaves to mourn her passing her beloved brother Stanislaw (Stan) of Toronto, his wife Ivy and their family plus many other nieces, nephews, and extended family. Stella was predeceased by her husband Dominik, father Marcin, mother Maryja (nee Kordas), and brothers Zygmunt and Edward. Stanislawa was born in Kazimierz, Poland on May 3, 1924. As chronicled in the book Stolen Childhood by Lucjan Krolikowski, Mom and her family, along with thousands of Poles in the Tarnapolski region of Poland, were hastily deported to Russia where she endured harsh conditions of the slave-labour camps in 1940-41. Her brother Zygmunt died during the exodus from Russia and her mother perished in Iran. She was then taken from Persia to Tanganyika Africa with her father and youngest brother Edward. She remained in Africa until 1949 where she learned a trade as a Seamstress. She then left Africa and briefly rejoined her father and brother in England before finally immigrating to Canada. Mom and Dad married February 20, 1949. With a growing family Mom worked in the textile manufacturing industry as a Sample Seamstress until her retirement in 1989. Along with her amazing cooking and sewing skills, Mom loved her gardening and was famous for her tomatoes. While her frame was tiny there was no doubt that she was the Grand Matriarch of Scotia Street. She cherished her neighbours who in turn watched over her. Her biggest life passion though, has been her grandchildren. Mom's last days most cherished moments were precipitated by the presence of her precious grandchildren. As frail as she became her heartbeats could only have been fuelled by the love she has for each of them. Emily... you brought so much joy to Mom's heart that she'll be boasting for eternity about her KOCHANY CORKA . The family would like to thank the St. Boniface Palliative Care unit. Special thanks also goes out to Mary Saito. Mary, thanks for your friendship, support and guidance particularly during Mom's last weeks. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers are grandsons Nicholas, Robert, Daniel and Timothy Iskierski; friends of the family Paul Szyszkowski and Tak Saito. Wieczny odpoczynek, racz jej dac Panie CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
