JAMES JOSEPH ERNEWEIN It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jim Ernewein, December 19, 2006 in Winnipeg at 80 years of age. Jim was predeceased by his wife, Jean; his parents, Annie and Harry; his brothers and sisters, Howard, Doug, Patricia, Dolores, Russel and Florence. He leaves to mourn nieces, nephews and many friends. Born May 26, 1926, he grew up in Bienfait, SK and Carmen; Jim joined the Canadian Armed Forces in the Second World War and suffered severe back pain the rest of his lifetime after an army truck rolled over. He operated garages on Fort Street and Corydon Avenue using his mechanical and business skills and retired after 10 years as a mechanic with Transport Canada at Winnipeg Airport. He loved to travel with Jean, their dogs and their trailer, he always enjoyed a chance to play cards, to fish and to have a good laugh. He loved to drive to Roseile and Carmen with Dollard and enjoyed his visit to Bienfait / Estevan for the centenary celebrations August 2005 with Mabel and Sandra. His last trip was to Vancouver in March, 2006 to see Mitzi, Farrah and Kelly. For all of us who have been blessed with his presence in our lives, we will remember his great story telling and reminiscing, his ability to endure pain and tough times, his sharp observant mind, his kindness and his sense of humour. We would like to thank Dr. Raimondi and the home care workers - especially Brenda and Irene and all who dropped in for a visit or took Jim for a car ride. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 21 Boulton Bay, Winnipeg in the Community Room on Thursday, December 28 at 2:00 p.m. led by Rev. Gordon Shields. Cremation has taken place. (204) 786-8998. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Carmen Legion #18, P.O. Box 98, Carmen, MB R0G 0J0 or to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
