Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIE KOLYNCHUK 1914 - 2006 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, Baba and Great-Baba at Concordia Place on December 24, 2006. Marie was pre-deceased by her husband Nick in 1987. Her memory will be forever cherished by her daughter Pearl and dear son-in-law Ed, her precious grandchildren, Kim Petaski (Dennis), Darren Banash (Daria) and Cyndi Myskiw (Leon), and her dearest great-grandchildren, Kristin (Jeff), Erin and Allyse Petaski, Oksana and Kerry Banash, Samantha and Adam Schellenberg, Tori, Tamika, and Caelan Myskiw; cousins Elizabeth Haraba, Les and Anne Slowski, Nick Rostosky (Peggy), Elizabeth Melnyk (Terry), Ivana and Eugene Bazhan (Ukraine); sisters-in-law Mary Zebinski, Mary Kolynchuk, Helen Kolynchuk, and Violet Mackelson; numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends. Marie was born April 7, 1914 in the city of Kitzman, obloste Chernovetz, Ukraine. In 1936, she came to Canada to be with her father and step-mother in Atikokan, Ontario. In 1939, she married Nick Kolynchuk. They farmed in Kirkness, then moved to Lockport where they owned and operated Kolynchuk's Red and White Store until the floodway was built. In 1962, they moved to 176 Fraser's Grove, which held many friend and family gatherings throughout the years. Marie resided there until 2005 when she moved into Concordia Place. Marie was a lifetime member of the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Gonor. She was a devoted church supporter and served as President on the church committee. Her deep faith saw her through many hardships and difficulties. Marie's family wishes to express deep gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Gorski, Chaplain John Friesen, Monica Sawatzky, Lisa from palliative care and all the compassionate staff on 2nd floor D. Also with our deepest gratitude we thank you to everyone who prayed, visited and phoned Marie. Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2006 at Gilbart's Funeral Home, 309 Eveline Street, Selkirk, Manitoba with Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephan Jarmus and Rev. Fr. Oris Naherniak. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2006 at Gilbert's Funeral Home, with Panahyda following the service at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Gonor. Presided by Rev. Fr. Oris Naherniak. Interment in church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darren Banash, Dennis Petaski, Leon Myskiw, Jerry Kolynchuk, Ed Bogacki, and Mike Yaworski. Honorary pallbearers are Adam Schellenberg, Kerry Banash, Jeff Krut, Les Slowski, Harry Kowalchuk and Gary Kotowich. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church Building Fund in care of Alex Pawluk, 6957 Henderson Highway, Lockport, Manitoba R1B 1A4.
