KARL RONALD RAYMOND KOHANIK It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Karl on Sunday, December 24, 2006 at Riverview Health Center after a courageous four-year battle with Multiple Myeloma (blood cancer). He will be remembered by his loving wife Martha of 40 years; his only daughter Debbie (Don); grandchildren Dylan and Delaney; brothers Alfred (Wanda) of Abbotsford, B.C. and Arthur (Helen) of Calgary, Alberta; sister Alice Felbel (George) of Winnipeg, Elaine Nodwell (Bob) of Calgary, Alberta and Joanne Wolitski (Brian) of Calgary, Alberta, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Karl was raised in the Interlake region of Manitoba (Faulkner). At the age of 20, Karl came to Winnipeg and worked for numerous sign companies until he established his own sign company in April of 1974, Tru-Lite Signs and Service Ltd. . He worked and operated the business along side his wife with her as his partner. He operated his business almost till his passing; Karl's business was the passion of his life. He enjoyed getting up early and having his morning coffee with his business associates and friends. He worked very hard and spent many long hours away from his family and accomplished each task he took on to the best of his ability. He will always be remembered for his friendly disposition and his hearty laugh. Karl's family was his life. Although it was very small, having one daughter and two grandchildren he often spoke as if he had a dozen. He always felt the need to provide for his family that he had and referred to them, as that was all he's got , Karl enjoyed his summers with his family at the beaches and in the winter when he could, would take the odd vacation to Florida with his wife, a place where he dreamed he would return to when he retired. Prayers and Viewing will be held Friday, December 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 30 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Ukrainian Church, 455 Douglas Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba with Father Canon Walter Klimchuk officiating. Interment to follow. Pallbearers are: Don Campbell, George Felbel, Donald Kohanik, Randy Storoschuk, Ernie Bachewich and Ted Marcinowsky.
