WILLIAM TODD HAWKINS Peacefully, surrounded by his family, William Todd Hawkins passed away in the Stonewall District Health Centre on December 25, 2006. Surviving are his loving wife Pat, daughter Lori Jean and granddaughter Laurel Brooke who were so very special to him. Todd was predeceased by his father William Thomas in 1973, an infant brother and his father-in-law William (Bill) Fletcher in 1990. Left to mourn are his mother Ethel; brothers, Robert (Deb), Keven (Pat); sister Margaret Anne (Rob) and Marie Hawkins. Also mourning his loss are Pat's family, mother Edna (Russ), Charlie (Lenore), Evelyn (Lloyd), Marilyn (Tom), Ken (Rosemary); as well as many nephews, nieces and great-nephew and nieces. Todd was born in Crystal City on March 24, 1949. In 1955 the family returned to Stonewall and that has been his home ever since. He married Pat on November 21, 1970 and celebrated their 36th Anniversary in 2006. Todd started working with Manitoba Hydro (Selkirk Eastern Construction District) in 1968 and retired after 36 years in 2004. He was a very dedicated employee and took pride in his work and crews. Many lifetime friendships were made from crew to crew. Todd was an avid reader of history, particularly about the two World Wars. Camping and for many years the annual fishing trip to Molson Lake were special memories to him. After Todd's retirement you would find him in his garage, puttering and inventing unique treasures. Everyone was amazed at how neat his garage was. He was of a loving, caring nature and took time to stop and share a joke or a story with friends. The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to Dr. James Johnston, CancerCare Manitoba for his compassionate care and to all those special Angels, Gisele, Erin and June that helped with his journey. All of Dad's chemo nurses were his special Angels. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Pinniger and the nursing staff especially Diane at the Stonewall District Health Centre for her compassion and understanding. At Todd's request cremation has taken place and a private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc., 675 McDermot Ave. Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, for Myeloma research. MacKenzie Funeral Home Stonewall in care of arrangements.
