Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDITH ALMA BROWN January 27, 1917 - December 25, 2006 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Edith Brown on December 25 at the Victoria Hospital. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Wayne (Irene), Arthur, Don (Jacki), Dana (Ray); grandchildren, Heather, Steven, Michelle, Nick, Peter, Danny, Murray, Shawn, Tina, Thomas; many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Harold in 1997. She was born on the farm near Waskada, MB. During the Depression, she moved to Winnipeg with friends to find work. She worked in restaurants and The Bay. Edith met her future husband through her good friend, Ivy, Harold's sister. Harold and Edith married in 1942 and shortly after moved to St. Vital. When going to school or looking for work, many nieces and nephews stayed with them. Edith obtained her driver's license and learnt to swim after she was 45. After retiring from The Bay, she was always available for babysitting her grandchildren and playing countless board or card games accompanied by icebox cookies. She especially enjoyed Age and Opportunity's line dancing at Regent's Park United Church. For the last four years, she was a resident of Golden Links Lodge where she is remembered by the staff as having a mischievous spark and a good sense of humour even in adversity. Many thanks to the staff at Golden Links Lodge for their care and consideration. A memorial service will take place on Friday, December 29 at 11:00 a.m. in the Coutu Chapel, 680 Archibald St. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edith's memory can be made to the Parkinson's Society of Manitoba, Suite 302 - 171 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1M4.
