IAN BALFOUR HENDERSON With thanksgiving for his life, we mourn the passing of Ian Henderson who died Saturday, December 23, 2006 at the Victoria General Hospital, after a long, courageous and uncomplaining battle with ill health. He is mourned by his beloved wife, Allie and his three children and their spouses, Murray (Diana), Mary (Gary) and Ian Jr. (Barbara), and by his grandchildren, Jonathan, Lara, Matthew, Heidi, Nathan, Benjamin, Charlotte, Josiah and Abigail. Ian loved his great-grandchildren, Aimee, Natalie, Ella, Sophie and Noah. Dad said that it was the richness and warmth of his family which gave him a reason to live. He was always interested in the lives of his children and grandchildren, and offered support of all kinds when it was needed. He will be greatly missed! A graduate in Civil Engineering from the University of Manitoba, Ian worked first for the CNR and then for the Greater Winnipeg Water District from 1950 until his retirement in 1985, where as Waterworks Engineer, he was responsible for Winnipeg's Aqueduct and the GWWD Railway. He loved his work and for most of his life he looked forward eagerly to the next day. He served as Manitoba President of the Engineering Institute of Canada. In retirement, he became manager of the Reform Party of Canada office in South Winnipeg. A memorial service will be held at Thompson In the Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. on Saturday, December 30 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Ken Turnbull of St. Aidan's Anglican Church presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army. Thanks to Dr. Cavers, Dr. Greene, the nurses and nurses aides who cared so lovingly for him. Rest eternal grant unto him O Lord, and let Light perpetual shine upon him.
