KATHLEEN (KATIE) CHAJKOWSKI August 18, 1928 December 29, 2006 Peacefully, with family by her side on Saturday December 29, 2006 at 1:20 a.m. at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, Kathleen passed away at the age of 78. Kathleen is survived by her two daughters; Linda Zelinski (Don), Gail Cielen (Lorne), grandsons: Douglas (fiancé Charlene), Ken, John, Richard, Zelinsky and Trevor Cielen, as well as son Peter, and numerous cousins, further family and friends. Kathleen was predeceased by parents; Michael Kulyk (1966) and Katherine (1979), husband: Tony (1991), brother; John Kulyk (1996), sisters; Mary Kulyk (1932), Anne Galka (1998), Nettie Marks (2002), Mary Malko (2001), Kathleen was born and raised in Oakbank, RM Springfield, Manitoba, one of five children. In her early years she diligently worked at Moore's Restaurant and continued in her same carrier until retiring from management with the Winnipeg Medical Arts cafeteria in 1993. Her marvelous creations in cooking continued well into retirement and gave a following beyond the province to family and friends in Toronto, Ontario. Her ability to create in the kitchen was matched by none; a true Martha Stewart of her generation. From traditional Ukrainian meals to contemporary culinary delights were at her fingertips and were all consumed with a sincere enjoyment. Her attention and pride to detail was clearly reminded to all who dared to approach. Through her baking skills and grace she placed a warm comfortable feeling in the faces and bellies in those who she served including and not limited to provincial judges, policemen, doctors, nurses, tradesmen, family and friends. She was fair and compassionate to everyone and each one was treated equally and dearly. She will be greatly missed and pleasantly remembered. To celebrate Kathleen's life, family and friends are invited to a memorial service to be held at 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at the Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy, Winnipeg Manitoba. Further, a traditional Ukrainian Catholic funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave., Winnipeg, with her final resting place in Birds Hill Provincial Park cemetery. She was deeply loved and will be sadly missed, as she is now together with our Lord. KATIE, WE LOVE YOU. Arrangements in care of Klassen Funeral Home 338-0331
