Predeceased by parents Gustav and Emma (Janke) Kull; siblings Phillip, Andrew, Elsie, Anna and Rose; grandchildren Ryan and Amy; mother-in-law Nora (Taman) McGregor; and his fishing buddy Bert McGregor. On the day of his passing he had celebrated 61 years of marriage to his surviving wife Eileen. Ernie is survived by his sister Tina Kauk. He is also survived by his loving family; daughter Linda (Eric) Stearns and children Eric, Kevin (Serena) and Tim, and grandchild Augustus; daughter Noraleen (Terry) Bertrand and children Tammy (Brian), Krista (Mike) and Sharon (Trevor), and grandchildren Justin, Brayden, Madilyn, Kelvin and Eliot; son Ernest (Melodie) and children Jason, Jennifer (Paul) and Jeff (Carrie), and grandchildren Kayla, Preston, Megan, Christina, Zachary and Jordan; son Murray (Darlene) and children Kerri, Jamie and Frank (Corinne), and grandchildren Keenyn, Khelyn, Erik and Kristin; daughter Penny (Herman) Dettman and child Cameron; son Martin (Julia) and children Jamie Leigh, Matthew, Jess, Stella and Eva; as well as many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Up until the time of his stroke in February 2006 Ernie lived his entire active life in Elmwood. He was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church where he was baptized, attended school, confirmed, was married and sang in the choir. He worked for over 40 years at the Co-Op Implements factory until his retirement on his 65th birthday. During his early working days he took a leave and enlisted in Canada's armed forces and served with pride as a Sergeant in the Canadian Light Infantry from 1942 to 1946. It is during this time of service that he met another enlistee, Eileen Mae Taman, and they were married on December 29, 1945. Their marital journey lasted 61 years and produced a loving family of 6 children, 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Ernie loved his family dearly and was a remarkable role model to all. His unique lessons of life and sense of humour have become a family legacy and will be passed down for generations. Ernie also loved his music, his fishing and was very active in a variety of sports throughout his life, and right up until the time of his stroke he was a regular at Chateau Bowling lanes, in spite of his loss of vision. His physically active lifestyle was the envy of his family. Ernie touched all our hearts in a very special way and will be deeply and sadly missed but never forgotten. A very special and heartfelt thank you to the staff of Lodge 6 at Deer Lodge Centre for the excellent care and support they provided to Ernie and his family, and in particular to Hermie who gave him such comfort with her songs and devotions. Special thanks also to everyone who took the time to visit with Ernie over the past ten months. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, McCalman and Grey, with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment to follow at Transcona Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Stearns Sr., Terry Bertrand, Jeff Kull, Jamie Kull, Herman Dettman and Martin Kull. Flowers graciously declined, however, donations in Ernie's memory may be made to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 708 McCalman Ave., Winnipeg MB R2L 1G7. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main Street 338-7111
