ALBERT JAMES (TIM) KNIGHT Peacefully on December 22, 2006, with his family at his side, Tim passed away at the Portage General Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife Celia, six months ago to the day. Memories of his life will be held dear by his children; Victoria, Lesley, Tim and Bill. Tim will be greatly missed by his ten grandchildren and four great-grandsons. Tim was born on a farm near Clearwater, MB, and was active in all forms of sport, particularly hockey and baseball. Tim continued to play baseball into his sixties with the Portage Liniment League. Tim joined the R.C.A.F. in 1941 and qualified as a pilot in 1943. Tim survived a crash in the Welsh Mountains and went on to achieve the rank of Flying Officer. Tim flew Lancaster Bombers with 433 Squadron. While in England, Tim met and married Celia. Tim and Celia farmed near Clearwater, MB, for ten years and then rejoined the R.C.A.F. as an Air Traffic and Radar Controller. The family spent four years in Europe as part of the NATO forces, returning to a posting in Portage la Prairie in 1964. Tim and Celia spent their retirement in Clearwater and Portage la Prairie, spending many happy winters in Texas and making many close friends. The family wish to thank the caring and thoughtful staff of the Portage General Hospital. A Memorial Service for Tim will take place at a later date. If friends so desire, memorial donations to CancerCare Manitoba would be appreciated. Arrangements are by Ronald Moffit Memorial Services, Portage la Prairie, phone (204)856-3487.
