Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUG MCLUCKIE April 15, 1940 December 23, 2006 It is with extreme sadness and very heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing, at home, of our most beloved husband, father and Grandad, at the age of 66 years. Doug's memory will be forever cherished and lovingly remembered by the love of his life, wife Sandra, proud and loving son Todd, daughter-in-law Wendy, and two precious grandsons Eric and Tyler who brought him joy, laughter and completed his life. He is also survived by his sister Lura McLuckie (Jim). He was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Lura. In 1979, after 20 years in the Plumbing and Heating Industry, Doug established D.A. McLuckie Agencies, a manufacturer's sales agency representing and specifying many of the industry's top product lines. During this time, Doug slowly and steadily grew his agency into a successful company through no-nonsense hard work and resilience. By 1995, the successful growth of his company resulted in Doug asking his son Todd to join him in partnership where they enjoyed each other's companionship working side by side for several years. Over the years, he developed many close personal relationships with manufacturers, architects, engineers and personnel among the plumbing and heating wholesalers, showrooms and trades. He was well respected for his expertise in the industry, dependability and dedication, and was always thankful and appreciative of the support he received. Doug was passionate about the lake. In his younger days, he spent many summers at the cottage with his grandparents, Harry and Alice Price at Lac Lu, Ontario. In 1966, he purchased their original log cabin where he enjoyed every summer for the next twenty years with Sandra and Todd. In 1986, Doug and Sandra fulfilled their dream and purchased a lot on Lake of the Woods. They designed and built their own special retreat in Sunset Country. It became their heaven on earth, where they enjoyed being with each other and special family times. Doug was most content working around the cottage, but when the work was done, his moments of leisure were spent enjoying sunset dinners, boating, picnics on the beach, playing with his grandsons and enjoying a cold glass of beer on the dock he worked so hard to build. Doug was very focused and could always be counted on in any situation. He gave his family so much and never asked for anything in return. He never complained. We will always remember him for his patient and protective nature, his kindness and quiet determination. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. His actions always spoke louder than his words, and his loving memory will be with us forever. In accordance with Doug's wishes, cremation has already taken place. A memorial service to celebrate and give thanks for his life will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations in Doug's memory may be made to the Manitoba Chapter of Children's Wish Foundation, Lower Level, 350 St. Mary Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J ONWARD AND UPWARD THOMSON IN THE PARK FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY 1291 MCGILLIVRAY BLVD WWW.THOMSONINTHEPARK.COM 925-1120
