THOMAS GARNETT (GAR) GILLIES In loving memory of Gar who passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on Saturday, December 23, 2006 after a difficult battle with cancer. Gar was born in Winnipeg, February 28, 1921. Gar leaves to grieve his loving wife and soulmate Rita; his six children, Russell, Garnet, Judy, Margo, Jocelyn and Roxanne; Rita's children Susan, Kathleen, Bill and Larry; their families, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gar had very many close friends from his years in the Winnipeg music scene. The Garnet' sound was his signature and his legacy. His sweet trombone and his vocals were unique. Everyone who knew Gar, loved him. He will be missed and remembered. Gar we love you. God Speed. Rita would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Palliative Care, St. Boniface Hospital for their kindness and care. A small memorial service celebrating Gar's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 7, 2007 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Avenue, Aubrey Street entrance.
