THELMA ELLEN WATERS January 20, 1915 - December 23, 2006 Peacefully at the Grace Hospital, Thelma Ellen Waters, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband Milton (Mel) C. Waters; parents Frank and Ellen Dawes; sister Edith (Mickey) Stuart. Mum's family was all-important to her and she was an avid supporter of each of us. Thelma was born in Winnipeg attending Aberdeen School and was always very proud of her North Winnipeg roots. She and Mel were married at St. John's Cathedral on June 24, 1934 and for 64 years enjoyed a full and rich life together, much of it on their small family farm in Charleswood. Mum was a loyal member of Patricia Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, for more than 60 years. She was also a member of the Orange Lodge and the Loyal True Blue Association, holding office with the latter for a number of years. For most of her life Mum belonged to St. Patrick's Anglican Church but after moving to the Courts of St. James, attended St. Andrew's, Woodhaven. A memorial service celebrating Mum's life will be held on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Avenue with Reverend Ian J. Mills officiating. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Private interment. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. George, Dr. Joshua and all the staff of 3-South at Grace Hospital for their caring and compassion for Mum during the past six weeks.
