ARNOLD OSCAR ENGSTROM May 14, 1928 - December 17, 2006 It is with deep regret that we announce Arnie's sudden passing while at his winter residence in Winterhaven, Florida. Arnie is survived by his loving wife Dorothy; stepdaughter Pamela (Patrick); nephew Richard (Shirley) and their sons, Douglas (Charlene) and their son Troy, Donald (Rubylyn) and their daughter Brookelyn, as well as numerous cousins. Arnie was predeceased by his mother Sophie; father Verner; stepfather Walter; brother Arthur; sister-in-law Marion and his special friend Little Patrick . Arnie was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by all of us. Arnie was born and raised in Kenora, ON. He spent more than 30 years with the CPR in Kenora, Winnipeg and Saskatoon, where he retired in 1985. Arnie's passions were his cottage at Blindfold Lake and spending his winters in Florida with Dorothy. He loved golf and cherished his time playing the game with his many friends in Florida and the guys in Kenora. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to all of Arnie and Dorothy's friends in Florida for their love and support at this most difficult time. In accordance with Arnie's wishes, there will be no formal service. Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering to celebrate Arnie's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Arnie and I were old friends in Kenora-Winnipeg when he was a Carman and I was a train dispatcher. His brother was a policeman in Winnipeg where I had transferred. We had many drinks and parties. at the time I had gotten married, Arnie thought it was pretty precipitous and he bet me a case (12 bottles) of champagne that I had to get married because my soon to be wife Janet was supposedly pregnant.- 1954- (Our first child was born 2 1/2 years after our marriage in Victoria). I lost touch with Arnie and now its too late to collect my champagne. I'm very sorry to find he has passed, we were about the same age, and I'm now 93 almost 94 living in Richmond B.C.
