GEORGINA FRANCES FIRTH (nee LINTON) Peacefully and surrounded by her loving family, Mom passed away on December 28, 2006, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Mom, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, auntie and friend, passed away at the age of 68. Mom will be deeply missed by her devoted husband George; daughters, Maureen (Jim), Karen (Allen); grandchildren, Amanda, Kelsey, Madi and Justin. Other family members are Ron and Tina Cancilla, Grant and Pat Cancilla; nieces and nephews, Katrina (Dave) Naaykens, Kirk (Charmaine) Cancilla, Ryan (Rosalie) Cancilla and Kent (Robyn) Cancilla and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Mom will also be dearly missed by her many girlfriends and neighbour Bob. Mom was predeceased by her father Andrew; mother Chris; sister Beth and nephew Rick. After 27 years of service, Mom retired from Supply and Services, Manitoba Region of the Federal Government. Mom was an amazing woman with a huge heart, who always put everyone first. One of Mom's greatest joys was time spent at the family cottage at Balsam Bay, Lakeshore Heights. Friends and family were always welcome to drop by unannounced and share a meal, a drink and a sunset. Mom was a woman with many passions. She was an avid bird watcher and no birds ever went hungry in her yard. She was also a great pet sitter for anyone who was away. Ginger and Roxie spent so many nights at Mom and Dad's house, they were confused at where they actually lived. Mom canvassed seven years for CancerCare Manitoba and many years for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. She also knit year round for CancerCare and the Winnipeg Cheer Board. One of Mom's greatest joys was taking her special needs granddaughter out for their weekly Wednesday lunch date. Mom also loved going on the annual bus trip to Grand Forks with her sister-in-law Tina and many friends and family. Another one of Mom's many joys was having Bruce and Keri over for drinks in the evening at the lake. Mom also looked forward to going out for dinner three times a year with the ladies. Mom was a devoted shopper and Dad is still amazed at all the deals she brought home over the years and no matter what, she always got it on sale, or so she told Dad. Over the years Mom and Dad travelled to many hot spots and always enjoyed their trips down south. Special thanks to Dr. Harding and Cindy Pearce at CancerCare for all their warmth and support during Mom's chemo treatments. We would also like to say a special thanks to the nursing staff on the Palliative Care Ward at the St. Boniface Hospital. A celebration of Mom's life will be held on Sunday, December 31 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. A reception will be held following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome, 111 Twain Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3K 0R2 or the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Road, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1S1.
