MARIE EVA GOSSELIN (nee KOSHYK) Peacefully, in her sleep, Mom joined her beloved Jimmie on December 25, 2006. Left to cherish her memory are, her daughter Michelle (Germain); her son Kelly (Laurie); her sisters Pat (Gerry), Diane (Fred); her brother-in-law Blair (Lavona); her sister-in-law Mary Anne (Bill) and many nephews, nieces, friends and family. Marie was predeceased by her husband James (2000), father Daniel (1992), her mother Anne (1995), and her nephew Danny (2000). Marie was born in Selkirk, MB on March 21, 1942. She had a happy childhood growing up in a one room log house her father had built on the family farm near Libau, MB. At the age of 17 she started working for MTS as a switchboard operator in Selkirk and eventually moved to Winnipeg to take her secretarial training and work for the CWB. Shortly thereafter she met and married Jimmie in 1963. They then moved to Edmonton but returned in 1964 to live at her family farm because Marie was expecting her first child. Shortly after the birth they moved to Winnipeg and in 1966 when her son was born the family was complete. They bought their first home in North Kildonan in 1971 and she remained living there for the rest of her life. Marie was a devoted wife and mother and stayed home until 1976 when she started working outside the home part time at first and eventually in 1981 she took a position at Canada Customs and Revenue Agency, where she thoroughly enjoyed working until her Rheumatoid Arthritis made it too difficult and in 2002 she retired early. Marie was a proud wife and mother and never tired of giving herself to her family. She was a wonderful and caring person who always had a hug for everyone she knew and even those she didn't. One of her greatest joys was visiting with family and friends. Marie enjoyed the family camping and fishing trips and had many wonderful memories and stories which she loved to share with everyone. Growing up on a farm gave Marie a love for gardening and animals. She cared for and loved many pets throughout the years and leaves behind her faithful companion Mitzie. We know that Mom and Dad are together again and we are so happy for them!! We can't know why some things happen... but we can know that love and beautiful memories outlast the pain and grief. We know that there's a place inside the heart where love lives always... and where nothing beautiful can be forgotten. We love you Mom. Cremation has taken place and a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anne's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 455 Douglas Avenue, on Wednesday, January 3 at 10:00 a.m. Father Canon Walter Klimchuk officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the church basement. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Marie's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1X3 Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main Street 338-7111
