ELEANOR SKINNER 1919 - 2006 Peacefully, on December 31, 2006, Eleanor Marcellene Skinner (nee Hardie) passed away at the age of 87 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Mayme (Colvin) and George Hardie; stepmother Gertrude (Midgley) Hardie; her loving husband Frederick W. Skinner and daughter-in-law Cathie (Andrews) Skinner. She will be lovingly remembered by her family: daughters, Lynne (Dave) Pearen and Carol (Greg) Gillies; sons, George (Thuraya) Skinner and Douglas Skinner; grandchildren, Chris, Dale and Blair Pearen, Scott Gillies and Kara Stringer; great-grandchildren, Emma, Laura and Ben Pearen, and Dailey Gillies; step-sister Muriel Adey and niece Maureen McKenzie; Harrison and Geraldine Skinner; Lorraine Anderson; Ken, Susan, Jordan and Mathew Skinner; Jim, Julie and Lily Skinner; David Skinner, Robert Skinner, and Steven, Allison and Mackenzie Skinner. Eleanor was born December 7, 1919, in Carman, Manitoba. Throughout her life, she lived in Morris, Teeswater (Ontario), Carberry, Elm Creek and Winnipeg. She was a kind and gentle woman, whose devotion to family was paramount. Trained as a stenographer, she dedicated her life to maintaining a warm and nurturing home for Fred and her children. Her engaging smile and laughter warmed many hearts, even when Alzheimer's made the journey of life more difficult. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg and to companion Georgina Kolenich for their loving care. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Eleanor's memory to the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, 276 Hugo St. North, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3M 2N6, or the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 9Z9. A memorial service for Eleanor will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2007, at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, Winnipeg. Interment will follow at Morris Cemetery.
