Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySOEUR YVONNE GAGNE (SISTER ADELE ST- JEAN), FILLE DE LA CROIX (SISTER OF THE CROSS) June 15, 1912 - December 30, 2006 On Saturday, December 30, 2006, Soeur Yvonne Gagné, fdlc, passed away peacefully at Foyer Valade in St. Vital, at the age of 94 and in the 67th year of her life as a Fille de la Croix. Soeur Yvonne Gagné was predeceased by her parents, Jean-Léon of St-Pierre-Jolys and Adélina Fontaine of St-Valérien, QC; her brothers, Hormidas Joseph, Léon, Omer, Léon, Albert and Lionel; her sisters, Marie, Léa and Aline. She leaves to mourn her passing, her three sisters, Adéline, Rita and Corinne; two sisters-in-law, Edmée and Edith and two brothers-in-law, Edmond Roy and Louis Montsion; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and the members of her Religious Congregation, Les Filles de la Croix, with whom she shared the mission, served our Lord and lived out her retirement years. Soeur Yvonne was born in St-Pierre-Jolys, MB. She obtained her schooling in St-Pierre and in St-Adolphe. That is where she came to know Les Filles de la Croix . She joined the Congregation at our Mother House, (La Puye, France), in 1930 and made her final commitment on August 25, 1935 in St-Adolphe, MB. Soeur Yvonne had the joy of revisiting our Mother House, in France, in 1997. In remembering the life of Soeur Yvonne, the word service immediately comes to mind. Her entire active life was dedicated to serving others. Even after she retired, she continued to serve through the ministry of prayer. Many were those who benefited from the selfless giving of herself. All found in Soeur Yvonne a friend who knew how to listen and, always, someone who left in her wake, the reassuring certainty that her prayer would accompany them. All this was offered generously, discreetly, in an unassuming fashion, almost matter-of-factly and with the aim of bringing peace and joy to those around her. Something must be said of the fun activities that brought Soeur Yvonne relaxation and joy. She loved to knit, to get together with folks she knew, just to talk. She listened to the radio and appreciated music and song. She loved to laugh and tease others and had a good sense of humour. Most of all, she loved to play cards... and to win! At this, she was truly formidable! We will miss her quiet presence, the reassurance of her smile, her simplicity, her sense of reverence at chapel and her love of family and Community. Soeur Yvonne, may you enjoy the fruits of your labour and the rest you so justly deserve. Les Filles de la Croix and the Gagné Family thank the staff at 66 Moore and at Foyer Valade for their loving care for our Sister. Their dedication has been greatly appreciated. Prayers for Soeur Yvonne Gagné will be held on Wednesday, January 3 at 7:00 p.m. at 66 Moore Ave., Winnipeg. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 66 Moore Ave. on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. Reverend Father Fernand Desjardins will officiate. Interment will take place at St. Adolphe Cemetery located in St. Adolphe, MB. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220
