WILLIAM WALLACE PEDEN Peacefully on December 29, 2006 at the Health Sciences Centre. Bill was born on October 10, 1927 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to parents William and Elsie Peden. He was predeceased by his wife Martha and two older sisters, Alice Purvis and Jean Murray. He is survived by sons, Ross and Lee, companion Dorothy, daughter-in-law Pamela, and by brothers, Murray and Allan, all of Winnipeg. Bill spent his boyhood years in Portage La Prairie, MB, and later attended Lord Roberts High School in Winnipeg when his family moved there. He was an avid outdoorsman, and spent much of his free time hunting and fishing. Many of his relatives and neighbourhood kids benefited from his love of the outdoors by accompanying him on camping and fishing trips. He enjoyed children and was known for teasing his many nephews and nieces at family get-togethers. He had an extraordinary fascination with animals, and there were many tales of encounters with giant snapping turtles, badgers, bears, owls and porcupines. Bill was a conductor for the CNR for 37 years, an occupation which took him all over western Canada, and caused him many sleepless nights waiting for a call to ride the rails to Sioux Lookout, Dauphin or one of the many other terminals serviced by the CN out of Winnipeg. Bill loved to travel and was fortunate to have spent his retirement years travelling North America and Europe. He was a lover of God's creations, be it people, animals or the Great Outdoors. He will be missed by all of them. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Portage La Prairie following reception. • It has been nearly 7 years since we lost you, but we still think about all the good times we had. We wish you could be here today to travel with us and enjoy seeing Lu the hippo in Florida or help me save some more stray dogs. We will always miss you. - Posted by: Psm (Daughter. - in- la) on: Oct 04, 2013
