Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNA DOROSH Anna Dorosh passed away peacefully at Stensrude Lodge on December 27, 2006 in her 97th year. She is survived by her sister Dora (Kindrachuck) of Saskatoon; her daughter Alice (Nicholaichuk) of Saskatoon; son Morris Dorosh of Winnipeg and Toronto, seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces. She was predeceased by her parents Nykola and Wasylyna Romanko; her husband John; her sister Mary (Slusarchuk), brother John Romanko; daughter-in-law Linda Dorosh; son-in-law Mike Nicholaichuk and nephew Peter Popiel. Anna was born in Horodenka, Ukraine on August 18, 1910. She came to Canada the following year with her mother and elder sister, joining her father who had arrived earlier. She married John Dorosh in 1929. They were among the first residents of the central Saskatchewan village of Yellow Creek and contributed to its development, operating a farm implement agency and other businesses. They retired to Saskatoon in 1972. Anna was a lifelong supporter of Ukrainian cultural and religious institutions. She was especially active in the Ukrainian Women's Association of Canada and the All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Parish in Saskatoon. She was also instrumental in the establishment of a food bank in Horodenka, Ukraine. Funeral services were held in Saskatoon on January 2, 2007 with arrangements by Acadia Drive Funeral Chapel. The family wishes to express its gratitude to the staff at Stensrude Lodge for compassionate and understanding care. Expressions of condolence may be sent to 1051@alderwoods.com.
