She married her beloved husband Jack, of 48 years, in June 1940 and they resided together on Downing Street for 46 years. Gladys was a devoted wife and homemaker. Although they had no children, she and Jack had a fulfilling life together. They enjoyed fishing, country drives, libraries, museums, and traveling often to British Columbia. Gladys was very proud of her English heritage and loved the Royal Family. She also was an avid flower gardener and enjoyed sewing, crafts and meeting with her ladies' group. Gladys was a very kind and gentle soul and will be remembered for her appreciation of the simpler things in life. The family would like to thank the wonderful, devoted staff of Calvary Place Nursing Home for their loving care and support of Auntie Gladys for the past four years. A service of remembrance will be held at Calvary Place, 1325 Erin Street on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 1:30 p.m., Chaplain Henry Schulz officiating.
