Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHERINE EDITH CHAPPEL (nee DAVIDOWSKI) March 27, 1928 January 1, 2007 Surrounded by love, Edith passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospice on January 1, 2007. Mom's memory will be forever cherished by her daughters and son-in-law, Susan Semeniuk, Connie Chappel and husband Len Paquin. Mom's memory will also be cherished by her brothers, Nick Davids and wife Beryl, Andy Davidowski and wife Lorraine; sister Ann Balcom; sister-in-law Coral Fry-Davids; step-grandson Stephen Stockwood and wife Diane; cousin Paula Achtemichuk and other cousins, nieces, nephews and long-time friends. Mom was predeceased by her husband John (1990); son Johnny (1984) and daughter Kathy Stockwood (2002). Also predeceasing her were her parents William and Martha Davidowski; brother John Davids; sisters, Mary Walsh and Pearl McLeod. Edith grew up in Shoal Lake, Manitoba before moving to Winnipeg for training at the General Hospital. In 1951 she graduated as an R.N. and worked at the General for many years. Edith looked forward to the nursing reunions so that she could visit with the gals, especially those she had lived with in residence. While in training, Edith met our Dad, John, and fell in love. They were married on Valentine's Day in 1953 and they remained in Winnipeg where they raised their four children. Mom was a talented seamstress and her family and friends proudly wore her creations. She also expressed her artistic talents by sketching garden plans and painting with watercolours. She was very resourceful, a true handywoman around the house. She enjoyed reading, playing scrabble, doing crossword puzzles and tending her park-like yard and garden. She also enjoyed the camaraderie of the congregation at the North Kildonan United Church. Mom was a private and generous person who always considered the needs of others. She had a radiant smile, dry sense of humour and an alias many called her Tig or Tiggy , her childhood nickname. Remembering her loving spirit and inner strength will be a source of comfort for all who knew her. We would like to thank the staff at CancerCare Manitoba, Palliative Home Care, and the Grace Hospice. Mom was able to enjoy a very special Christmas celebration with her family thanks to the dedicated staff and volunteers at the Hospice. We would also like to thank friends and relatives for their support and visits during Mom's illness. If desired, donations may be made in Edith's memory to a charity of your choice. A memorial service celebrating Edith's life will be held on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at North Kildonan United Church, 174 Pentland St. Reverend Marc Whitehead will be officiating. Private interment has taken place. KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson Hwy. 338-0331 www.klassenfuneralhome.com
