HAZEL MARY LYONS (WILLCOCK)
Date of Passing: Dec 29, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAZEL MARY LYONS (WILLCOCK) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hazel Lyons at the Riverview Centre in Winnipeg on December 29, 2006. Hazel left us peacefully at the age of 88 to join her husband of 61 years. Ted Lyons predeceased her in 1998, also at the age of 88. Hazel was also predeceased by her parents, Alice and Harry Willcock of Winnipeg; her sister, Muriel Patrick (Cyril Robert) of Victoria BC, many of her friends and by all her beloved brothers and sisters-in-law. She was ready to move on and to be with those she has missed so sorely. Hazel was a gentle person who devoted her life to her husband, her children and to creating the best home possible for them. This did not take away from the community service she performed as a willing volunteer of her church and her community. She always sacrificed personal ambition to the welfare of those she loved. She is survived by her four children, Bruce (Julie), Barbara Riley (Doug), Ron (Ann) and Jerry. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren in British Columbia, Manitoba and Ontario, and by six great-grandchildren in the same provinces. In addition, she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews across Canada and by her relations in England with whom she still corresponded until the time of her death. Hazel's family and friends would like to gratefully acknowledge the loving care she received from the staff at Lindenwood Manor, the Victoria Hospital and the Riverview Centre. A memorial service will be held at Harrow United Church (955 Mulvey Ave.) at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2007. A light lunch will follow for family and friends and interment of her ashes by immediate family will take place at Thompson In The Park later that day. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make donations in Hazel's memory to the charity of your choice. Messages of condolence will be gratefully received by Bruce Lyons at 175 Wallingford Cres., Winnipeg, MB R3P 1K9. Voyage Funeral Home In care of arrangements 284-7500
