Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD WILLIAM LOGIE SMELLIE Donald William Logie Smellie of Esterhazy, SK passed away December 30, 2006 at Regina General Hospital after a courageous battle with illness. Logie was born on February 12, 1932 in Russell, Mb. and lived most of his early life there. He married Barbara Kelly in 1956, and they moved to Winnipeg with their four children in 1967. Upon retirement from Statistics Canada they relocated to Minnedosa for their retirement, wintering in Mesa, AZ each year. Barb passed away in 1998 and Logie married Dorothea Johnson in 2000. They resided in Esterhazy but also wintered in Mesa. Logie enjoyed many years as a Shriner in the Ruff Riders' Bike patrol. He also enjoyed walking, camping, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Logie was predeceased by his parents, George and Jessie Smellie, wife Barbara, son-in-law Glen McLeod, grandsons, Cade and Brance McLeod and brother Bob Smellie. Surviving are Logie's wife Dorothea; daughters Kim McLeod, Jan (Mark) Blais, Lisa (Dan) MacRae and son Jake (Lindy) Smellie; grandchildren, Laci and Luke Blais, Mandy and Danika MacRae, Jayla McLeod, Shayne and Cam Smellie; great-grandsons, Chase Miller and Aiden Blais; brother George (Taisia) Smellie and sister Pat Partaker, sister-in-law Jean Smellie, brother-in-law Jack Scobie, as well as many nieces and nephews. Logie is also survived by Dorothea's children Ken, Karen, Terry and Dawn and their families. Funeral service will be held at Knox United Church in Russell, MB on Saturday January 6, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
