JOSEPH RIESZ Joseph (Joe) Riesz, aged 81 years, died after a long and courageous battle with cancer on December 30, 2006 in Creston, BC. Joe was predeceased by his parents Ferdinand and Albina and his brothers, Gabor and Nandor and is survived by his brother Ferenc. Joe was born in Szentendre, Hungary. In 1956, during the Hungarian Revolution, he immigrated to Canada, settling in Winnipeg where he became an electrician with CNR and retired after 27 years of service. During his retirement, Joe moved to British Columbia and built a home in Creston. He loved cooking and baking Hungarian recipes. He also loved listening to music, walking, biking and in his later years, built a kayak which he enjoyed on the Kootenay River. He also enjoyed telling stories to his family and friends and always had a memory to share. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need and you rarely ever saw him without a smile on his face. Joe will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Joseph (wife Mandy), Steven (wife Sandra); grandchildren, Bronte, Lewis, Annabelle, Emily and Noah, as well as previous wife Edit Juhasz. Our family would like to express sincere appreciation to the wonderful staff at Creston Valley Hospital for the compassionate care they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Red Cross. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at G.F. Oliver Funeral Chapel in Creston. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at a later date in Szentendre, Hungary.
